11 Bit Studios Reveals Revised Roadmap for Frostpunk 2; Console Ports Arriving in Summer

11 Bit Studios has unveiled its revised roadmap for Frostpunk 2, the critically acclaimed sequel released in September last year. Following its tremendous success—becoming profitable just three days after launch with sales topping 350,000 units—the studio has been hard at work updating the game with improvements, fixes, and new content.

In the original November roadmap, the studio announced plans for a free major update and future console ports. The revised roadmap now provides a clearer timeline for these developments. First and foremost, a free major content update is set to release on May 8. The update’s announcement reads:

"A day to be remembered: a Free Major Content Update that will adjust the City's management, paying homage to the order established by the first new Londoners."

Following this update, console players will have the opportunity to experience Frostpunk 2 after waiting just under a year. Although there is no exact release date for consoles yet, the developers have confirmed that Frostpunk 2 will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in the Summer. There is currently no plan for a last-gen console port, including the Nintendo Switch, and it remains uncertain whether a Nintendo Switch 2 version will eventually be developed.

The revised roadmap outlines a robust lineup of updates for 2025. In addition to the free content update and console ports, the Spectrum DLC is scheduled for a Fall release, with a cryptic message hinting that it will "help us learn more about ourselves and the people of our great city in more ways than one." The Aurora DLC is also planned for release this year, though depending on the development and porting progress, it may be pushed into 2026. Looking ahead, a third DLC is also on the horizon for next year, though details about both the Aurora and third DLC remain under wraps.
