AMD Radeon RX 9070 GPUs Set to See Price Hike After Initial Inventory Sells Out
Early reports from Swedish retailer INET and confirmations on Overclockers UK indicate that while AMD's new RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT GPUs are launching at attractive price points, demand is expected to drive up prices shortly after the first batch is sold out. Despite wide initial availability—with some retailers reportedly receiving over 1,000 units per model—the limited MSRP stock (a few hundred units per vendor) is likely to force AIBs and retailers to increase prices for subsequent shipments.
According to INET, once the launch inventory is depleted, the restock will come at higher prices. Some sellers have already been listing the RX 9070 XT for up to $849, a significant $250 increase over the official MSRP. This trend is expected to affect both base models and custom AIB editions. Vendors like XFX, PowerColor, ASRock, and Sapphire currently offer models at MSRP, while higher-end models from Gigabyte and ASUS already come at a premium. As the initial stocks deplete, the pricing for the RX 9070 series could easily exceed $800 for the RX 9070 XT and follow a similar trend for the RX 9070.
This price dynamic mirrors earlier patterns seen with NVIDIA's RTX 50 series, where strong demand and limited supply led to post-launch price spikes. However, current reports suggest that overall stock levels for the RX 9070 series are relatively robust—around 2,000 units from Sapphire and 1,000 each from PowerColor and ASRock—indicating that price increases might only set in once the limited MSRP quantities have been fully sold.
