Assassin’s Creed Mirage Reportedly Receiving First DLC After Ubisoft Partners With Savvy Games Group

Ubisoft may be expanding the world of Assassin’s Creed Mirage—the franchise’s 2023 installment—with a new DLC, according to a recent report from French publication Les Echos, further discussed by prominent Assassin’s Creed leaker j0nathan. While the publisher has focused on its upcoming title Assassin’s Creed Shadows, slated to launch on March 20, 2025, insiders suggest Ubisoft’s president Yves Guillemot recently greenlit the unexpected DLC for Mirage during a visit to Saudi Arabia. Funding is said to come through a newly formed partnership with Savvy Games Group.

Originally designed as an expansion to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Mirage evolved into its own standalone game, debuting in October 2023. Despite garnering attention for its setting in historic Baghdad and reintroducing classic stealth elements, Mirage never received any post-launch story content or expansions. The news that an additional DLC could arrive this year is somewhat surprising—especially with Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the horizon—but not without precedent. Past entries in the series, such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, have received DLC long after their initial launch and even following the release of subsequent mainline titles.

Key to this rumored expansion is Savvy Games Group, a Saudi Arabian company that has increasingly invested in the gaming industry. While official details remain sparse, reports point to Savvy Games Group providing major funding, with Ubisoft’s executive leadership purportedly won over by the potential of the Saudi partnership. Should the arrangement move forward, it could mark the first significant Assassin’s Creed DLC financed via external partnership—highlighting changing dynamics in how AAA franchises are funded and developed.

Why Now?

One likely factor is Ubisoft’s broader push to diversify revenue and maintain player engagement across its catalog. Assassin’s Creed Mirage has cultivated a dedicated community eager for more content, from story expansions to new side quests or gear packs. Another angle is the success Mirage enjoyed as a somewhat smaller-scale installment—an experience that might be easier to build upon without diverting significant resources away from other high-profile projects.

On the other hand, timing remains a puzzle. With Shadows backlash and in just mere months away, Ubisoft may find balancing two concurrent Assassin’s Creed products challenging, though it’s not unheard of for the publisher to support multiple AC titles simultaneously, especially if one is in pre-release hype and the other is in post-launch content mode.

While fans can speculate, no official word has emerged from Ubisoft at the time of writing. Past patterns indicate that an expansion to an existing Assassin’s Creed title—post-launch of a newer entry—certainly isn’t off the table. Until Ubisoft breaks its silence, all speculation about when or even if this DLC will release must be taken with caution. The possibility, however, aligns with Ubisoft’s history of providing continued support for successful Assassin’s Creed chapters, often years after their debut.
