ASUS Prepares Next-Gen ROG NUC with Core Ultra 200H CPUs and RTX 50 GPUs

ASUS is gearing up to unveil its next-gen ROG NUC 2025, a compact gaming PC that promises cutting-edge performance with Intel's Core Ultra 200H CPUs and NVIDIA RTX 50 series GPUs. Leaks from Weibo, courtesy of renowned leaker 孤城Hardware, reveal significant upgrades to this flagship NUC lineup.

The ROG NUC 2025 is set to bring notable improvements over its 2024 predecessor:

  • Processor: Powered by Intel's Arrow Lake-H architecture, likely featuring the Core Ultra 9 285H, a flagship chip with significant performance boosts over the Core Ultra 9 185H used in the previous model.

  • GPU: Expected to feature desktop-class RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 from NVIDIA's Blackwell RTX 50 series, a step up from the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070 used in the 2024 edition.

  • Cooling System: The 2025 model includes an additional top-mounted fan, improving thermal performance for sustained gaming loads.

While the overall design closely resembles the 2024 model, there are a few changes:

  • Front Panel Ports: Includes 2x USB Type-A, 1x USB Type-C, an audio jack, and a power button. The inclusion of USB Type-C is a notable improvement.

  • Card Reader Removed: The 2025 model lacks the card reader found in its predecessor, which might be a drawback for some users.

Performance and Target Market

The ROG NUC 2025 is designed to deliver high-end gaming performance while maintaining a compact footprint. These systems utilize mobile platform components for their CPU and motherboard, offering a balance of portability and power. Positioned as a premium offering, it’s expected to compete at the top of the compact gaming PC market.

Expected Pricing and Availability

The 2024 ROG NUC, equipped with the Core Ultra 9 185H, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and RTX 4070, launched at approximately $2,000 in China. With the RTX 50 series GPUs reportedly being more expensive, the 2025 edition is likely to cost more. While official release dates are unknown, an update is expected at CES 2025.

What do you think about the ROG NUC 2025 upgrades? Are these enhancements enough to justify the premium pricing? Share your thoughts in the comments!
