Avowed Can Be Purchased Using WoW Gold via WoW Tokens on Battle.net
In an unusual twist, Avowed, the highly anticipated RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, can be purchased using World of Warcraft (WoW) Gold through WoW Tokens on Battle.net. While this opens up an alternative payment method for WoW players, the process is complex, time-consuming, and requires a significant amount of in-game currency.
How It Works:
Buy WoW Tokens: Players purchase WoW Tokens in-game using gold from the Auction House or buy them directly from Blizzard for $20 each.
Sell Tokens for Gold: Tokens sold in-game convert into Battle.net credit, approximately $15 per token (after Blizzard’s cut).
Accumulate Gold: To purchase Avowed ($69.99), players would need about five WoW Tokens, which translates to roughly 1.3 million gold in World of Warcraft.
For players with excess WoW Gold, this might be an interesting way to spend their in-game wealth. However, grinding for such a large amount of gold can be tedious, making this option impractical for most.
Other Purchase Options:
For those unwilling to go through this process, Avowed will be available for direct purchase on Battle.net or as part of PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate, where subscribers can play the game from day one. The base edition costs $69.99, while the premium edition is priced at $94.99.
Avowed launches on February 18, 2025, for PC and consoles.
