Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector Set to Release on January 31, 2025

The highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Citizen Sleeper is officially launching on January 31, 2025, for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Notably, the game will also be available on Game Pass from day one. Announced during the PC Gaming Show, this sequel is set to continue the sci-fi RPG's legacy, which began with its award-winning predecessor released in 2022.

Return of the Hexport Demo

Fans eager to get a glimpse of the sequel can dive into the Hexport demo, available again on Steam from today until December 8. The demo, initially showcased during Steam Next Fest, offers players a hands-on preview of the dice-driven mechanics that defined the original game.

Building on a Legacy

Citizen Sleeper, known for its compelling political themes and atmospheric soundtrack, won multiple awards and received four BAFTA nominations, including British Game and Game for Impact. The sequel maintains the beloved dice-based gameplay, introducing a new Sleeper android protagonist navigating the Starward Belt. According to creator Gareth Damian Martin, the central theme of Citizen Sleeper 2 is "crisis," inspired by global events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Martin emphasizes the intersection of narrative and mechanics, saying:

"When you make games, you have to accept that you are inherently quantifying absolutely everything. Even if the player can't see those numbers, they definitely exist. I love the idea of narrative gameplay infecting mechanical gameplay."

In Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, players will once again step into a world of high-stakes survival and thought-provoking choices. The game's trailer, now live, teases a story that builds on the atmospheric and immersive universe of its predecessor.

With the release date just around the corner, fans of the franchise have much to look forward to. Until then, dive into the Hexport demo and start rolling those dice for a taste of what's to come.
