Diablo IV Patch 2.1 Brings Armory, Witchcraft Powers, and Headhunts

Blizzard Entertainment has unveiled exciting details about the upcoming Diablo IV Patch 2.1, set to hit the Public Test Realm (PTR) on December 3–10 for PC via Battle.net. The update promises substantial changes, including long-requested features, new systems, and class overhauls, enhancing the Diablo IV experience.

Key Highlights of Diablo IV Patch 2.1

Armory: Flexible Build Management

One of the most anticipated features, the Armory, lets players save and switch between builds seamlessly without respeccing costs. Saved items will automatically be marked as “favorited” to prevent accidental sales, and they’ll feature icons indicating they belong to a saved build.
However, controller support for the Armory will not be available at launch but is planned for future updates.

Witchcraft Powers & Coven’s Favor

A brand-new system introduces witchcraft powers, accessed through witches around the Tree of Whispers. Players will:

  • Earn a new currency, Restless Rot, by defeating Headrotten enemies.

  • Use altars to learn over 20 new powers, including:

    • Poison Frog Summon: A venomous ally.

    • Doom Orb: A destructive magical attack.

    • Pano: Creates a vortex that pulls enemies into destruction.

  • Unlock additional rewards through a Coven’s Favor reputation system, progressing by discovering Forgotten Altars in the open world.

Headhunts and Occult Gems

The seasonal activity, Headhunts, brings a fresh challenge by tasking players with defeating Headrotten enemies. Players will earn Occult Gems, socketable items that boost defense and add unique effects to builds, such as:

  • Elder Sigil: Enhances skill cooldowns.

  • Killing Wind: Boosts movement and attack speed.

  • Dust Stone: Grants elemental resistance.

Quality-of-Life Enhancements

Blizzard is refining navigation and services around the Tree of Whispers, ensuring a more streamlined experience during Headhunts. Players can look forward to improved vendor placements and faster interactions.

What Else to Expect?

Blizzard teased class overhauls and other gameplay adjustments in the update. Full patch notes are set to drop on November 27.

And here’s an intriguing tidbit: Did you know Blizzard experimented with turning Diablo IV into a roguelike with Arkham-style combat during its early development?
