Former Bioware & EA Devs Reveal New ARPG, Cloudheim
Independent studio Noodle Cat Games—comprising developers from Epic Games, EA, Codemasters, Disney, and Bioware—has unveiled its debut multiplayer action RPG, Cloudheim. Slated for Q3 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the game features a Norse-inspired fantasy world packed with physics-based combat, chaotic co-op action, and extensive exploration.
In Cloudheim, players step into a fully breakable environment where abilities can be creatively combined to wreak havoc on enemies. This could mean toppling pillars to crush foes, flinging adversaries into tornadoes, or even blasting them out of cannons. According to David Hunt, CEO and Founder of Noodle Cat Games, the team asked, “What if we take the juggling from fighting games and make it the combat foundation in a co-op action RPG?”
Solo or Four-Player Co-Op
Whether you’re a lone wolf or prefer teaming with friends, Cloudheim has you covered:
Solo Mode: Venture alone into haunting landscapes.
Online Co-Op (up to four players): Share unlocked weapons and abilities, explore new characters, and chain powers together for massive physics combos.
Players aren’t limited to just smashing monsters—Cloudheim offers base construction and ally recruitment too. Creatures like the “Swordcupine,” “Blins,” and a “Gnasher” can fight beside you when the going gets tough. Hunt notes that this approach, supported by an “iterative development process informed by science and modern psychology,” empowers the entire team to contribute meaningfully, aiming to deliver “exceptional gameplay quality.”
Cloudheim launches in Q3 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Stay current on development milestones and news by visiting the official website or checking out the reveal trailer on YouTube.
