GTA 6 Will Be Extraordinary and Worth Waiting For, Says Take-Two CEO

As 2025 approaches, anticipation for GTA 6 has reached a fever pitch. Scheduled for release next fall, Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive are gearing up to deliver what might just be the most groundbreaking entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. The bar is undeniably high, with GTA 5 holding the title of the second best-selling game of all time, moving over 200 million units since its release.

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two, recently shared his thoughts in an interview with Conner Mather, offering a single but potent statement about the game:

"I would say I think it'll be extraordinary and worth waiting for."

This bold claim is supported by hints from Zelnick that GTA 6 will feature innovations and content that fans couldn’t have imagined. In his words, the team at Rockstar isn't merely refining what worked in previous titles—they’re creating experiences that redefine the franchise.

"Everything that we do has to be new and different, not derivative... Our teams are focused on what's new that you haven't even thought about. You thought you were anticipating this thing, but this is way bigger and way better and more exciting and more beautiful than you could have possibly thought of."

Reflecting on the GTA 5 journey, Zelnick shared insights into how neither Take-Two nor Rockstar foresaw the astronomical success of both the game and GTA Online. Interestingly, the online component originally didn’t include virtual currency in its plans, and the initial launch faced several challenges.

"We were innovating; we were doing it all in real time. It was like building a plane while you're taking off and then flying. It is an incredible, durable success, and it continues to perform many, many years later. It’s astonishing."

With Rockstar’s pedigree of delivering industry-defining experiences and the promises of innovation that exceed expectations, GTA 6 is shaping up to be a game-changer.
