Helldivers 2 Wins Game of the Year at TIGA Awards 2024

Arrowhead Studios’ Helldivers 2 has secured the Game of the Year (GOTY) title at the prestigious TIGA Awards 2024, held at Shoreditch Town Hall, London. The co-op shooter also clinched awards for Best Visual Design and Best Technical Innovation, marking a remarkable achievement in a competitive gaming year.

Helldivers 2 sold over 12 million units across PC and PlayStation 5 within its first three months. While player engagement dipped due to some lackluster updates, Arrowhead’s subsequent improvements have reignited interest, cementing the game as a standout in 2024.

The TIGA Awards’ recognition comes in a year without dominant blockbuster releases, showcasing Helldivers 2’s ability to captivate players with its engaging gameplay and groundbreaking visuals.

Dr. Richard Wilson OBE, CEO of TIGA, praised the industry’s talent and innovation, saying:

“The TIGA Games Industry Awards 2024 showcase the incredible talent, innovation, and passion that define the UK games industry. Congratulations to all the winners, nominees, and the entire community for making this such a vibrant and pioneering industry.”

While Helldivers 2 stole the spotlight, other games also made waves:

  • Best Action & Adventure Game: Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II

  • Best Narrative in Games: The Last of Us Part II Remastered
