After nearly a year and a half of silence, Honor of Kings: World has made a remarkable return at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025, unveiling a captivating new trailer showcasing its richly detailed environments, intense battles, and cooperative gameplay.
The highly-anticipated title from Tencent's TiMi Studio Group—renowned for games such as Call of Duty: Mobile, Pokémon UNITE, and Delta Force—is an ambitious open-world action RPG set in the beloved universe of the massively successful mobile MOBA, Honor of Kings. As a testament to its popularity, Honor of Kings secured its position as 2024's highest-grossing mobile game, generating an impressive $2.6 billion in revenue.
A World of Adventure, Fantasy, and Collaboration
Originally announced in October 2021, Honor of Kings: World expands on the lore and narrative of the original MOBA, transporting players into a visually striking, expansive universe filled with dynamic biomes, formidable creatures, and challenging boss encounters. The new trailer presented at GDC offers glimpses of expansive landscapes, lush forests, deserts, fantastical ruins, and collaborative multiplayer gameplay, highlighting the game's diverse environments and intricate character designs.
One of the project's most intriguing aspects is the collaboration with Liu Cixin, internationally acclaimed author of the award-winning science fiction novel, The Three-Body Problem. Liu Cixin will contribute to the game's lore by adapting a new narrative titled The Poetry Cloud, further enriching the depth and complexity of the game's storytelling.
Advanced Graphics and Tech Support
In May 2023, NVIDIA announced that Honor of Kings: World will support advanced graphical technologies, including ray tracing and DLSS 3. Given its extended development timeline, it is highly probable that the final game will feature the even newer DLSS 4 technology, offering players an optimized gaming experience with breathtaking visuals and seamless performance on PC.
