Kill the Justice League Support Ends in January 2025; Offline Mode and Deathstroke Released

Rocksteady has officially announced that support for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will conclude in January 2025 with the release of Season 4's Episode 8. This decision comes as no surprise, given the game's disappointing performance, which resulted in a 41% decrease in Warner Bros. Games' Q2 2024 revenue.

Upon its launch, the game received a lukewarm reception, with Wccftech reviewer Nathan Birch rating it a mere 5 out of 10. He noted that while the game showcases some of Rocksteady's signature charm—featuring polished visuals, fluid traversal, and engaging combat—the overall experience suffers from:

  • Repetitive mission design

  • Empty live service elements

  • A mean-spirited story that detracts from enjoyment

Despite the game's title promising thrilling encounters with the Justice League, players found these moments to be underwhelming. For those curious about the Arkhamverse, Birch suggests waiting for significant discounts before diving in.

Speaking of discounts, during the recent Steam Autumn sale, the game was available at an astonishing 95% off. Although it has returned to full price, another substantial discount is anticipated with the upcoming Holiday sale.

In the past year, Rocksteady has made several improvements to the game, adhering to their plan of four post-launch seasons. These updates introduced new maps and playable characters, including Joker, Mrs. Freeze, Lawless, and the latest addition, Deathstroke. Deathstroke brings a close-range, melee combat style powered by his sword, complemented by a variety of firearms, including:

  • Assault Rifles

  • Shotguns

  • Sniper Rifles

The new seasonal episode also features a medieval-inspired Elseworld, drawing from DC's Dark Knights of Steel comic series. Additionally, the long-awaited Offline Mode has been implemented, allowing players to enjoy all released content without an Internet connection. However, online features, including co-op play, will remain accessible for the time being.

Looking ahead, it's important to note that Rocksteady recently faced layoffs. Rumors suggest that the studio may be working on a Director's Cut for Hogwarts Legacy and could eventually return to the Batman: Arkham franchise, although this is expected to take several years.
