Metro 2033 Redux Is Free for 48 Hours on Steam, GOG, and Xbox to Celebrate Metro’s 15th Anniversary

In celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Metro franchise, developer 4A Games and publisher Deep Silver are offering players a limited-time opportunity to claim Metro 2033 Redux for free. The acclaimed post-apocalyptic shooter is now available at no cost on Steam, GOG, and Xbox platforms for the next 48 hours.

This giveaway was officially announced via the Metro series' X (formerly Twitter) account, accompanied by a gameplay clip highlighting the definitive Redux version of the series' first entry. Originally released in 2010, Metro 2033 received a comprehensive remaster in 2014, upgrading visuals, performance, and gameplay systems to match its sequel Metro: Last Light.

While players on PC and Xbox can claim the game for free, PlayStation users have been left out of the promotion for now. There has been no official confirmation whether Sony’s platform will receive a similar giveaway. However, significant discounts are currently available across the Metro series catalog on all major storefronts, including PlayStation, Steam, and GOG, as part of the ongoing anniversary celebration.

This initiative follows the official 15-year milestone marked on March 16, 2025. 4A Games previously announced a year-long celebration with events, promotions, and content designed to honor the franchise’s enduring legacy. In addition to the free copy of Metro 2033 Redux, fans can also purchase Metro: Last Light Redux and Metro Exodus at reduced prices during this promotional period.

The franchise's latest installment, Metro: Awakening, launched last year as a VR prequel, offering a fresh perspective on the series' lore. However, there has been no substantial update regarding the long-awaited next mainline entry in the Metro universe. While anticipation remains high, fans will need to be patient a bit longer before hearing further details.

Don't miss out—claim your free copy of Metro 2033 Redux before the promotion ends. Are you revisiting the tunnels of Moscow, or diving in for the first time? Let us know your favorite Metro memory in the comments below.
