Monster Hunter Wilds Prepares for Second Open Beta Test: Gypceros Returns!
CAPCOM has officially announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will get a second Open Beta test ahead of its highly anticipated release on February 29. Fans can dive into the beta on all platforms during two testing windows: February 6–9 and February 13–16, starting and ending at 7 PM Pacific Time.
In a video announcement, Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto highlighted the exciting updates for this new beta compared to the first test held last October. Most notably, players will get to face off against Gypceros, a returning monster from the franchise’s storied history, adding a thrilling challenge for both newcomers and seasoned hunters.
Gypceros Joins the Hunt: This fan-favorite monster, known for its blinding flash attacks, makes its triumphant return.
Carry Over Character Creation Data: Players from the first beta will find their created characters waiting for them, with the option to transfer this data into the full game upon release.
Exclusive Rewards for Beta Players: Special items, including a decorative charm for weapons and Seikret, along with an item pack, will be available in the full game for beta participants.
The beta will still feature the Character Creation, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt, giving players another opportunity to experience the game’s lush environments and refined mechanics. However, no quest progress will carry over to the full release.
Tsujimoto reassured players that Monster Hunter Wilds is evolving based on the feedback from the first beta. While these improvements won’t be implemented in time for the second test, CAPCOM is hard at work refining the game to ensure it delivers a polished experience upon release.
As the sequel to the record-breaking Monster Hunter World, which sold nearly 27 million units (including the Iceborne expansion), expectations for Monster Hunter Wilds are sky-high. From the breathtaking open-world design to the addition of returning monsters like Gypceros, the game is shaping up to be another landmark entry in the series.
