Moon Studios Regains Publishing Rights and Unveils Major Update for No Rest for the Wicked

Moon Studios, the renowned Austrian developer behind the beloved Ori series, announced significant news during a recent episode of their show, Wicked Inside. The studio confirmed that it has successfully regained publishing rights for its ambitious action RPG, No Rest for the Wicked, previously held by Private Division. This strategic acquisition followed months of complex legal negotiations and positions Moon Studios as fully independent, granting the team complete creative and operational control over the game's future development. To mark this major milestone, No Rest for the Wicked is currently available at a celebratory 30% discount for approximately 32 more hours.

Additionally, Moon Studios unveiled comprehensive details regarding the forthcoming major update titled "The Breach," scheduled for release on April 30. This substantial update will significantly expand the game, effectively doubling its world size by introducing expansive new areas such as the lush Lowland Meadows and dense Marin Woods. Players will face off against formidable new enemies known as the Harvesters and Balak Taw, as well as encounter deeper factional dynamics throughout the evolving landscape.

One of the update's highlights is the introduction of two new weapon archetypes: Gauntlets and Wands, promising fresh playstyles and additional depth to combat encounters. The loot system has also been enhanced, ensuring greater variety and customization options for players' builds. Moreover, the world itself will now feel more dynamic and alive, thanks to the innovative "Alive" system, enabling enemy factions and threats to actively reshape the game's environments.

Furthermore, Moon Studios has implemented an intricate new Plague system, which introduces powerful plague-afflicted enemies and challenging bosses. Plague outbreaks can now occur dynamically throughout the world of Sacra, and players must cleanse these infected areas to obtain potent new resources essential for powerful upgrades.

This update brings numerous quality-of-life enhancements to improve overall gameplay experience, including the ability to teleport directly to the player's home, improved item stacking, additional fast travel points, refined enchantment mechanics, improved timers, and a fully redesigned storage system. Also noteworthy is the introduction of a challenging new Hardcore mode, alongside significant visual and performance optimizations, including improved lighting and the implementation of NVIDIA DLSS technology.

Looking ahead, Moon Studios teased that the next major update after The Breach will finally introduce multiplayer support for up to four players, promising a preview of this highly-anticipated feature soon. Further expansions to city-building mechanics, housing, farming systems, and progression enhancements are also in the pipeline, along with ongoing refinements to combat mechanics. Fans of Moon Studios' previous works will be delighted to hear that renowned Ori composer Gareth Coker has officially rejoined the studio, set to deliver new musical compositions that will enrich the atmosphere of No Rest for the Wicked.
