New Elden Ring: Nightreign Trailer Unveils the Ironeye Class Ahead of May 30 Launch
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have released a brand-new gameplay trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign, offering a focused introduction to the Ironeye class, one of the five playable “Nightfarers” set to feature in this dark and highly anticipated spin-off. With less than two months before the game’s May 30 release, the promotional rollout is intensifying as players prepare to descend once again into the Lands Between—this time, with a renewed cooperative and roguelike twist.
The Ironeye: Precision and Support from Afar
According to the official class description, the Ironeye brings precision-based combat and long-range tactics to the forefront. Armed initially with a bow and reliant on dexterity-based weapons, the Ironeye's playstyle emphasizes ranged damage and utility, serving as both a sniper and a tactical support role for cooperative parties venturing into Limveld, the new setting of Nightreign.
The class is uniquely capable of reviving teammates from afar, a potentially game-changing ability during chaotic encounters. This makes the Ironeye especially valuable in party-based expeditions, where surviving the night may hinge on timely interventions. Though it begins with ranged abilities, the Ironeye—like all Nightfarers—can equip any weapon found during a run, allowing flexible progression based on player choice and loot drops.
The Five Nightfarers of Elden Ring: Nightreign
Elden Ring: Nightreign introduces five distinct Nightfarers, each tailored to unique combat roles:
Wylder – A balanced all-rounder combining swift mobility with strong attack capabilities.
Guardian – A powerful tank class built for durability and heavy-hitting melee strikes.
Duchess – A nimble rogue-type Nightfarer, excelling in rapid attacks and evasive maneuvers.
Recluse – A magic-wielding caster focused on ranged spellcasting and healing support.
Ironeye – The ranged expert with precision-based Ultimates and support utility.
The Ironeye is the first class to receive a dedicated trailer, with Bandai Namco confirming that the remaining classes will be showcased in the lead-up to launch. Given the May 30 release window, fans can expect more promotional material in the coming weeks.
Nightreign: A Spin-Off With Core FromSoftware DNA
Following the Elden Ring Closed Beta Test, early feedback has been promising. Wccftech’s Francesco De Meo praised the game's combination of traditional Soulsborne mechanics with multiplayer co-op and roguelike progression systems, emphasizing how well-crafted these new systems felt even in early testing stages. De Meo noted the game’s potential to evolve into a standout entry with minor tweaks based on player feedback.
What Lies Ahead
Elden Ring: Nightreign launches globally on May 30, 2025, and is shaping up to be FromSoftware’s most experimental entry yet. By introducing class-based co-op mechanics and evolving roguelike structure into the Elden Ring mythos, Nightreign could prove to be both a major evolution for the franchise and a new benchmark for multiplayer fantasy action titles.
