Nintendo Direct Focused on Original Switch Games Set for March 27—Switch 2 News Coming Next Week

Nintendo has officially announced a new Nintendo Direct showcase that will air on March 27, 2025, dedicated exclusively to games launching for the original Nintendo Switch. The presentation will go live at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET / 2:00 p.m. GMT / 3:00 p.m. CET and will run for approximately 30 minutes.

In an effort to manage expectations, Nintendo confirmed that this Direct will not include any news or updates on the next-gen Switch 2 console or its games. That said, a separate Nintendo Direct specifically focused on the Switch 2 is scheduled to arrive next week, making this an exciting two-week period for fans of the platform.

While no specific titles have been teased for tomorrow’s Direct, strong speculation points toward Metroid Prime 4: Beyond making a much-anticipated appearance. The title is still officially set to launch on the current Nintendo Switch, although many expect it to be a cross-generation title that could also take advantage of the Switch 2’s improved hardware capabilities.

With the Switch 2 expected to support AI-powered upscaling and higher performance output, games like Metroid Prime 4 could showcase how older-generation titles will benefit from the enhanced specs. This could serve as a bridge between the two generations—demonstrating Nintendo’s commitment to current Switch owners while building anticipation for what's next.

For now, Nintendo fans should gear up for a promising lineup of late-stage Switch releases. Whether it’s long-awaited sequels, hidden gems, or remasters, tomorrow’s Direct is poised to bring fresh excitement to a console that continues to deliver well into its seventh year.

What are you hoping to see during the March 27 Nintendo Direct? Do you think Metroid Prime 4 will make the cut, or will Nintendo hold it back for the Switch 2 showcase? Drop your predictions in the comments!
