NVIDIA Launches GeForce RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070 Laptop GPUs with GDDR7 and Max-Q Efficiency

At CES 2025, NVIDIA unveiled its next-generation GeForce RTX 50 Series laptop GPUs, powered by the cutting-edge Blackwell AI GPU architecture. These GPUs promise a quantum leap in gaming performance and efficiency, tailored for high-end gaming laptops.

The Lineup: GeForce RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and 5070

Flagship RTX 5090

The GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU headlines the lineup with a jaw-dropping 24 GB GDDR7 VRAM on a 256-bit bus and 10,496 CUDA cores, delivering up to 1824 AI TOPS. It features a 95-150W TGP, designed for ultra-thin laptops (as slim as 14.9mm) without compromising performance.

RTX 5080

The RTX 5080 offers a robust 16 GB GDDR7 memory, 7680 CUDA cores, and a 80-150W TGP, ensuring exceptional gaming experiences at lower power consumption.

RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070

The RTX 5070 Ti includes 12 GB GDDR7 memory, 5888 CUDA cores, and a 60-115W TGP, while the RTX 5070 features 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM, 4608 CUDA cores, and a 50-100W TGP, targeting premium mid-range gaming laptops.

Next-Gen Max-Q Innovations

NVIDIA’s Max-Q technology ensures these GPUs deliver high performance in laptops as thin as 14.9mm. Innovations include:

  • GDDR7 Memory: Ultra-low voltage states for faster, more efficient operation.

  • Improved AI Capabilities: Blackwell architecture supports DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation, enhancing gaming performance and visual fidelity.

  • Optimized Efficiency: Longer battery life and reduced thermal output for sustained gaming sessions.

Performance Expectations

While performance benchmarks are yet to be released, NVIDIA suggests the RTX 50 Series GPUs could offer up to double the performance of their RTX 40 “Ada” counterparts. Key features like DLSS 4 and ray tracing are expected to redefine laptop gaming experiences.

Availability and Partners

The first GeForce RTX 50-powered laptops will debut in March 2025, with models from leading brands such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, GIGABYTE, HP, Lenovo, MECHREVO, MSI, and Razer.
