NVIDIA Releases Hotfix for GeForce Drivers and Temporarily Disables "Game Filter" to Resolve Performance Issues
NVIDIA has rolled out a series of updates addressing performance problems across its software ecosystem. The updates include a GeForce Driver Hotfix (version 566.45) and a temporary fix for the "NVIDIA App" that disables the "Game Filter" feature by default.
The hotfix, built on the existing Game Ready driver framework, focuses on resolving specific issues without requiring a full-fledged update.
Changelog:
[Indiana Jones and the Great Circle]: Fixed intermittent micro-stuttering for some users (Issue ID: 5015165).
Ubisoft Games (Snowdrop Engine): Improved stability across titles using this engine (Issue ID: 4914325).
Availability:
The driver is available for download on NVIDIA's official website for Windows 10 x64 and Windows 11 x64.
NVIDIA App Update
In response to reports of performance drops up to 15% caused by the "Game Filter" feature in the NVIDIA App's overlay, NVIDIA has temporarily disabled the feature by default in version 11.0.1.
This decision comes after widespread reports of stuttering and frame rate drops in several games. While this is only a stopgap solution, NVIDIA has confirmed that a proper update addressing the compatibility issues is expected to arrive next month.
While these updates resolve some immediate concerns, the temporary disablement of Game Filter may inconvenience users who rely on it for in-game visual adjustments. NVIDIA's quick response is commendable, but users will undoubtedly be anticipating the promised update to fully restore functionality without impacting performance.
