Portal RTX Now Supports AMD GPUs with FSR 3.1, Enhancing Visual Definition
Portal RTX, originally launched in late 2022 as a premier showcase for NVIDIA's RTX Remix remastering tools, has finally received support for AMD GPUs. Thanks to a modding effort by NightSightProductions, AMD users can now experience the game's advanced graphics features, including path tracing, DLSS alternatives, and improved visual definition via FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 3.1.
Key Updates and Compatibility
FSR 3.1 Integration
The latest update to the mod replaces TAAU with FSR 3.1, significantly enhancing image sharpness and graphical clarity for AMD GPUs.
AMD GPU Performance Results:
RX 7600: 1080p @ 60fps (Windows Medium Preset)
RX 7900 GRE: 1440p @ 60fps (Windows Ultra Preset)
RX 6400: 720p @ 30fps (Windows Low Preset)

Steam Deck Mod
The team even adapted the game to run on the Steam Deck. While it's technically functional, the low resolution and performance trade-offs diminish the RTX showcase's impact.
Portal Prelude RTX for AMD
In addition to Portal RTX, the team has also launched Portal Prelude RTX for AMD GPUs. This brings full RTX support to the beloved fan-made mod, expanding the community's access to enhanced graphics.
How to Install the Mod
Select your OS and GPU architecture from the mod files.
Drag and drop the files from dxvk-patch into the
.trex
folder in Portal RTX/bin.Copy the desired RTX.conf preset into the main Portal RTX directory.
Future Modding Projects
The modding community isn't stopping with Portal RTX. Developers are now working to implement RTX Remix features into Portal 2, with early results looking promising for an enhanced sequel experience.
