Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Unveils New Virtua Fighter and Promising IP Project Century

At The Game Awards, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, known for the beloved Like a Dragon series, delighted fans with the announcement of two exciting projects. A new entry in SEGA's legendary Virtua Fighter series is officially in the works, marking a triumphant return for the iconic fighting franchise. This will be the first new installment in years, and while the teaser was brief, fans won’t have to wait long for more details—a Virtua Fighter Direct Special will air tomorrow, December 13th, revealing additional insights.

Alongside Virtua Fighter, the studio also unveiled Project Century, a fresh IP that hints at familiar elements of the Like a Dragon series while forging its own identity. The trailer, which has already sparked intrigue across the gaming community, suggests a rich narrative, unique characters, and dynamic gameplay. While specifics remain under wraps, the project is already shaping up to be a standout.

This announcement caps off an impressive run for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, which continues to expand its portfolio at an incredible pace. Following the successful Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the studio will release Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii this February, keeping fans hooked with an evolving mix of creativity and nostalgia.
