Saber Interactive Developing a AAA Game Based on a Major Hasbro Franchise

Saber Interactive has been confirmed as the developer of a new AAA video game adaptation of one of Hasbro’s flagship franchises. The announcement was made by Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks during the company’s Q4 2024 earnings call, fueling speculation about which beloved property is getting the next big-budget gaming treatment.

A New Partnership with Major Potential

During the earnings call, Chris Cocks expressed his excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing Saber Interactive’s reputation for high-quality action titles. His statement, shared via The Motley Fool, reads:

"We have many new digital collaborations in the works, but I'm especially excited to announce this one today, being a personal fan of many of this team's games. Hasbro and Saber Interactive will be collaborating on an all-new video game partnership developed by the team behind 2024's megahit Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2, combining high-octane single-player action and amazing multiplayer with Saber's Swarm Tech. This new AAA title, one of our tentpole IPs, is sure to be a hit."

The mention of tentpole IPs suggests that this project will be based on one of Hasbro’s most recognizable and commercially successful franchises.

Which Hasbro Franchise is Saber Developing?

Hasbro owns an extensive catalog of high-profile properties, including:

  • Transformers

  • G.I. Joe

  • Power Rangers

  • Dungeons & Dragons

  • Magic: The Gathering

While no official confirmation has been given, Transformers appears to be the strongest contender for several reasons:

  1. Saber Interactive’s recent success with Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 suggests that they are well-equipped to handle a large-scale, action-packed shooter, which aligns perfectly with the Transformers franchise.

  2. G.I. Joe already has an upcoming game starring Snake Eyes, being developed by Atomic Arcade, a studio owned by Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast.

  3. Dungeons & Dragons has multiple games in development, including:

    • A co-op action game from Starbreeze, targeting a 2026 release.

    • A new project from Invoke Studios, formerly Tuque, the developers of Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance.

    • Demeo x Dungeons & Dragons: Battlemarked, developed by Resolution Games (source).

  4. Magic: The Gathering does not align with Saber Interactive’s expertise, which is heavily focused on action-heavy and multiplayer-driven experiences.

  5. The cancellation of Transformers: Reactivate at Splash Damage has left a gap in the market, creating an opportunity for a new Transformers title.

Given these factors, it seems highly plausible that Saber Interactive is developing the next major Transformers game.

Saber Interactive’s Growing Portfolio

Saber Interactive is handling several high-profile projects, including:

  • Turok: Origins

  • Avatar: The Last Airbender RPG

  • Jurassic Park: Survival

  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake

Despite managing multiple titles, the company operates on a global scale with nearly 2,700 employees, allowing them to tackle multiple AAA productions simultaneously.

What to Expect Next?

While details remain under wraps, the confirmation of this project signals another major push by Hasbro into gaming adaptations. Given Saber Interactive’s track record, this title is expected to deliver fast-paced, high-quality action gameplay with a strong single-player and multiplayer focus.

With anticipation growing, fans will have to wait for an official reveal to see which Hasbro universe Saber Interactive is bringing to life.
