Solasta II Announced – Powered by Unreal Engine 5, Early Access Launch in 2025
French developer Tactical Adventures has officially unveiled Solasta II, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 cRPG Solasta: Crown of the Magister, during The Game Awards 2024 pre-show. This sequel builds on the success of its predecessor, leveraging the Dungeons & Dragons SRD 5.1 ruleset while introducing new features, enhanced visuals, and an expansive new story set on the continent of Neokos.
A New Adventure in Neokos
Set decades after the events of Crown of the Magister and its Palace of Ice DLC, Solasta II introduces a fresh band of adventurers tasked with navigating the treacherous lands of Neokos. This continent has fallen under the rule of Shadwyn, a powerful and corrupting villain voiced by Amelia Tyler, the award-winning actress known for her roles as the narrator in Baldur's Gate III and Hecate in Hades II.
Next-Gen Visuals and Gameplay Features
With Solasta II transitioning to Unreal Engine 5, the game promises a dramatic visual upgrade over its predecessor. The debut trailer showcases colossal landscapes, rich magical environments, and stunning character models, hinting at a more immersive experience.
On the gameplay front, players will once again command a group of four adventurers, now fully voiced for deeper immersion. Customization options for skills and abilities will return, alongside strategic combat that stays true to the SRD 5.1 ruleset. Tactical Adventures has also confirmed the inclusion of online co-op, which will debut during the Early Access phase, allowing players to tackle quests with friends.
The story campaign promises a deeper narrative, with impactful player decisions that influence faction relationships and how the inhabitants of Neokos perceive your adventurers. The game’s Creative Director, Mathieu Girard, shared his enthusiasm for the project:
“With Solasta II, we’re taking everything further—pushing tactical depth, fun, and accessibility. Players will explore a new continent brimming with magic, colossal landscapes, and discover unprecedented lore, all while facing Shadwyn, a charismatic villain driven by her relentless desire to reclaim power.”
Solasta II is slated for a Steam Early Access launch in 2025. To give fans an early taste of the adventure, a free demo will be released in early 2025. Tactical Adventures will also host a developer live stream today at 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST / 6 PM CET on Twitch, where fans can learn more about the game's development and features.
