The Blood of Dawnwalker Open World RPG Revealed with Stunning Trailer and Gameplay Sneak Peek

Polish developer Rebel Wolves has finally lifted the veil on its highly anticipated debut project, The Blood of Dawnwalker. Unveiled during a livestreamed event, the game showcased its stunning CGI trailer and a sneak peek at in-game footage, thrilling fans eager to dive into this dark fantasy RPG.

A Dark Tale Set in 14th-Century Carpathia

Led by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, former director of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, Rebel Wolves’ new title is deeply inspired by dark fantasy and supernatural themes. Set in the fictional region of Vale Lenora amidst the backdrop of the Black Plague, the narrative unfolds as a group of vampires, led by the ancient and powerful Brencis, usurp control from feudal lords, offering the battered human populace protection—but at a grim cost. Regular blood sacrifices become the new currency of survival.

Meet Coen, the Dawnwalker

The protagonist, Coen, is thrust into this grim reality when vampires intervene to save his sister from execution. While spared, Coen himself is transformed into a unique kind of vampire. Thanks to his argyria, a silver poisoning condition from his mining days, Coen remains partially human, able to walk among humans during the day while gaining supernatural powers at night.

Gameplay Loops and Choices Matter

Rebel Wolves introduces dynamic day-and-night gameplay loops that influence Coen’s abilities. By day, he battles as a human, with some occult magic, while by night, he unlocks the full spectrum of his vampire powers. Players must navigate these mechanics to survive not only vampires but also other supernatural threats like undead, kobolds, and uriashes.

Choices play a pivotal role, as Coen can form alliances or forge a lone path toward defeating Brencis and freeing his family. However, the game imposes a ticking clock: players have only 30 in-game days and nights to complete their mission. This time constraint, combined with blood hunger mechanics—where Coen risks losing control and killing allies if not fed—ensures high stakes in every decision.

Powered by Unreal Engine 5, The Blood of Dawnwalker promises breathtaking visuals and intricate world-building. The game also avoids the traditional distinction between main and side quests, allowing for a more seamless and immersive storytelling experience.

Rebel Wolves confirmed that The Blood of Dawnwalker will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X, with a full gameplay reveal scheduled for this summer. No release date has been announced yet, but fans can expect more updates as development progresses.
