The Witcher IV’s Ciri Gets a New Voice Actress, and Fans Have Questions

The Witcher IV’s cinematic reveal trailer may have stunned audiences with its breathtaking visuals—rendered on NVIDIA’s powerful GeForce RTX 5090, no less—but sharp-eared fans picked up something else: Ciri, the new protagonist for CD Projekt RED’s next saga, has a new voice.

CD Projekt RED later confirmed to The Gamer that Ciara Berkeley has replaced Jo Wyatt, who voiced Ciri in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

“Ciara is a talented actress who impressed us with her enthusiasm and vocal acting skills, and in this trailer, we believe she truly brought Ciri to life in a way that is both faithful to the character and exciting for fans of the series.”

A Fresh Voice for a New Chapter

While initially unclear whether Berkeley would voice Ciri beyond the cinematic trailer, CD Projekt RED later confirmed that she would continue the role in The Witcher IV. Berkeley is a relative newcomer to the industry, with small credits in miniseries like Normal People and The Deceived (both 2020). This role could mark her big break, though fans will have to wait a while—the game is still early in production, and it might be years before we hear her fully inhabit Ciri in gameplay.

Why Ciri? A New Journey for Players

CD Projekt RED has been transparent about why Ciri is the perfect choice to carry The Witcher legacy forward. Not only does her journey as a Witcher offer unexplored narrative potential, but her new role also allows for greater player agency in shaping her character. Unlike Geralt, whose personality and decisions were largely predefined, Ciri’s arc will allow players to make choices that truly define her path.

The developers also teased a greater variety of gameplay mechanics compared to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Drawing inspiration from Cyberpunk 2077, the team aims to enhance player options—perhaps hinting at stealthier approaches for Ciri, a natural evolution from her nimble, teleportation-based combat style.

The Excitement Builds

Though fans may need time to adjust to Ciri’s new voice, The Witcher IV is shaping up to be a fresh and ambitious chapter for the franchise. With top-tier visuals, a dynamic protagonist, and refined gameplay mechanics, CD Projekt RED looks poised to deliver another epic fantasy journey.
