TSMC Achieves 100% Utilization of 5nm & 3nm Supply Amid High Demand from AI and Mobile Sectors
TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) has reportedly reached full utilization of its 5nm and 3nm production lines, signaling its continued dominance in the semiconductor market. Fueled by surging demand from major clients like NVIDIA, Apple, and MediaTek, TSMC’s advanced nodes are experiencing a supply boom.
NVIDIA, in particular, is driving much of the demand for TSMC's 5nm production capacity with plans to ship 200,000 units of its Blackwell B200 AI GPUs by the year’s end. This high volume has led TSMC to prioritize NVIDIA, while its 3nm processes are largely allocated to Apple and MediaTek for high-end mobile chips.
The Arizona TSMC facility, scheduled for launch by late 2024, is expected to scale up 5nm production even further, addressing the company’s growing client demands.
With competitors like Samsung and Intel facing production challenges and yield rate issues, TSMC’s position as the market leader is more secure than ever. Indicators suggest TSMC is on track to monopolize the advanced semiconductor space, making it a critical player in meeting the rising needs of AI and mobile technology.
