4A Games Confirms Next Metro Is in Development with Dmitry Glukhovsky

4A Games has formally reassured fans and industry observers that the iconic Metro franchise is far from finished. In a recent studio update posted on their website, 4A Games confirmed that they are actively developing the next installment in the Metro series in collaboration with renowned author Dmitry Glukhovsky. This announcement comes as part of a broader update intended to clear up ongoing confusion regarding the studio’s status and future projects.

A Legacy of Excellence

As the creative force behind beloved titles such as Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, Metro Redux, and Metro Exodus, 4A Games has built a reputation for delivering immersive, narrative-driven experiences that have resonated with gamers worldwide. With nearly two decades of expertise in the series, the studio’s core founders, leadership, and development team continue to drive innovation within the franchise. The partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, whose vision helped shape the dark, atmospheric universe of Metro, remains integral to the forthcoming title.

Studio Update and Global Presence

In their update, 4A Games emphasized that the team remains steadfast and true to its roots. While the company now operates with studios in both Kyiv and Sliema, and through remote setups—including operations from the front line in Ukraine—the majority of the team (approximately 150 out of over 200 colleagues) remains based in Ukraine. This multinational structure reinforces the studio’s commitment to both its heritage and the global gaming community.

The update also addressed concerns regarding potential rebranding, clarifying that the 4A Games fans know and love has not changed. The studio is continuing its work on Metro under contract with Deep Silver and Plaion, while also nurturing a new IP project that will be revealed at a later date.

As Metro 2033’s 15th anniversary approaches this March, 4A Games looks forward to celebrating the series’ enduring legacy with its dedicated fanbase. The announcement underscores that, despite industry uncertainties and ongoing geopolitical challenges, the creative spirit and commitment to quality at 4A Games remain unyielding.
