AMD Confirms Radeon RX 9070 Pricing Won’t Increase After Launch, Demonstrating Commitment to Gamers
Amid speculation and retailer warnings that MSRP prices for AMD's recently launched Radeon RX 9070 series might only be valid for initial inventory, AMD’s Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions, Frank Azor, has clarified that these rumors are unfounded. In a recent statement on X, Azor emphasized AMD's commitment to maintaining consistent pricing and replenishing inventory levels to meet consumer demand.
“Rumors about Radeon RX 9070 MSRP prices being launch-only are not accurate. We’re actively working with our AIB partners and retailers to maintain stable pricing and consistent supply.”
This news arrives as a relief to consumers, following reports of exceptionally high demand at launch, with retailers selling out "thousands" of units within the first day. AMD’s dedication to keeping GPU prices consistent signals their continued focus on providing value to mainstream gamers.
The Radeon RX 9070 XT ($649 MSRP) and RX 9070 ($599 MSRP) have made significant waves in the GPU market, offering up to 68% better performance compared to previous-generation cards like the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, as reported at launch. Custom high-end AIB models may still sell slightly above MSRP due to specialized features or cooling solutions, but AMD confirms base models will maintain their originally announced price tags.
Regional differences could still lead to some price variations, especially in markets such as the EU, where availability has been limited compared to the US. However, AMD’s clear stance on stable pricing is expected to significantly limit any inflated costs.
This stable pricing approach sharply contrasts with NVIDIA’s RTX 50-series launch, which faced immediate price hikes and widespread availability issues. AMD’s competitive pricing and inventory replenishment strategy could positively impact their market share, positioning Team Red favorably among gamers seeking performance and affordability.
