AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D Delivers Record-Breaking FPS in Esports Games, Running Cool at Just 100W

AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, featuring second-generation 3D V-Cache, is setting new standards in gaming performance. Recently tested by ASUS China’s General Manager, Tony Yu, this chip hit impressive overclocking speeds of up to 6.9 GHz on LN2 cooling, achieving over 1000 FPS in Counter-Strike 2 and 2000 FPS in Valorant—all while consuming around 100 watts in gaming scenarios.

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D ran smoothly on the ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Gene motherboard, paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and 32 GB of DDR5-6000 memory. In benchmarks, it scored over 1260 FPS in CS2 and held around 1100 FPS in Valorant at 1080p max settings, rivaling Intel’s Core i9-14900K but with notably higher efficiency.

At $479, this CPU combines extreme gaming performance with power efficiency, making it a top choice for competitive gamers seeking high frame rates on next-gen monitors with refresh rates exceeding 600Hz. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is available starting today, with ample stock expected, according to Germany’s largest retailer, Mindfactory.
