ASUS Confirms X870 BTF Motherboards to Debut with Ryzen 9 9000X3D at CES 2025
ASUS is gearing up to launch its innovative X870 BTF (Back-to-Front) motherboards alongside AMD's highly anticipated Ryzen 9 9000X3D processors at CES 2025. The announcement comes from the General Manager of ASUS China, confirming the company's commitment to its clutter-free, connector-less motherboard design for AMD's next-gen CPUs.
ASUS X870 BTF: A Game-Changer for AMD Builds
The BTF design, short for "Back-to-Front," places almost all connectors on the back of the motherboard, creating a clean, cable-free look for PC builds. While ASUS hasn't extended this feature to Intel's Z890 motherboards yet, it appears the company is going all-in on AMD's X870 chipset, designed to support Zen 4 and Zen 5 Ryzen processors.
The ASUS GM stated on Bilibili:
"There may be a more powerful CPU at CES later. By then, you will see the new X870 back-plug motherboard."
This aligns with AMD's rumored CES 2025 launch of the Ryzen 9000 and 9000X3D processors, which are expected to deliver groundbreaking performance, particularly for gamers and creators.
ASUS's BTF motherboards are built to reduce cable clutter and enhance airflow by placing connectors like power, SATA, and USB at the back. To accommodate this design, compatible PC cases must feature specific cutouts in the motherboard tray.

GameMax F36 & F46: Budget-friendly cases supporting back-plug designs.
This is not ASUS's first venture into connector-less designs. Competing brands like Gigabyte (Stealth series) and MSI (Project Zero) have also experimented with similar concepts. However, neither has confirmed plans for X870 motherboards, leaving ASUS to set the trend.
