Battlefield Labs Announced, Showcasing Pre-Alpha Footage of the Next Battlefield Entry
EA has revealed Battlefield Labs, a brand-new community testing environment designed to support the development of the next Battlefield title. According to the studio, this testing program is being launched at a “critical phase” of game creation, one that can benefit significantly from player input. A new video detailing Battlefield Labs, along with pre-alpha gameplay footage of the next, as-yet-unofficially-named Battlefield entry, was released today.
Players who wish to participate in Battlefield Labs can sign up via the official Battlefield website. The first phase of testing will begin in the coming weeks, initially inviting select individuals from Europe and North America. Over time, EA plans to roll out more invites and additional server locations to accommodate a global audience. The testing sessions aim to gather direct feedback from the community on gameplay mechanics, balance, and technical performance.
A New Era of Community Collaboration
EA touts Battlefield Labs as “the most ambitious community testing program in the history of the franchise,” emphasizing collaborative development. The studio behind the upcoming Battlefield is composed of DICE (original creators), Ripple Effect, Motive, and Criterion. Despite this official reveal, little else is confirmed—except that the next entry in the series is actively being shaped with players’ hands-on insights.
“Engaging the community early will help us refine everything from pacing to stability, making sure fans get the best Battlefield experience possible,” states the video’s narration. In practice, this means fans could influence map layouts, vehicle handling, or game modes before the new Battlefield iteration even leaves pre-alpha.
