Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.21 Patch Adds DLSS 4 for Dramatic Image Quality Boosts
The long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 2.21 patch has arrived, bringing a host of refinements and additions—most notably, NVIDIA DLSS 4 support. According to the official patch notes, this update introduces new Photo Mode features, fixes to vehicle color customization, and expanded randomizer settings during Character Creation, alongside various general improvements. However, the spotlight is firmly on DLSS 4 and its Transformer model, which promises major advancements in image quality.
With the patch now live, Cyberpunk 2077 users on NVIDIA RTX cards can choose between the older CNN model or the new Transformer model when enabling DLSS Super Resolution, DLAA, and Ray Reconstruction, potentially including upcoming RTX 50 series features via Multi Frame Generation. As showcased in a fresh comparison video by MxBenchmarkPC, this new Transformer model significantly reduces ghosting, improves anti-aliasing for distant objects, and generally delivers more detailed visuals in motion compared to DLSS 3.8—even if there is a slight performance tradeoff.
NVIDIA itself recently highlighted these enhancements, noting how the Transformer model’s refined approach to frame reconstruction yields substantial clarity gains. In Cyberpunk 2077, where a gritty, futuristic atmosphere demands crisp rendering, these upgrades allow for a smoother and more visually striking Night City, especially for those running advanced ray tracing settings.
Cyberpunk 2077 continues to be available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One worldwide.
