Dune: Awakening Delayed to June 10, Early Access Begins June 5

Funcom has officially delayed the release of its highly anticipated MMO survival game Dune: Awakening, moving the launch from its originally scheduled date of May 20, 2025, to June 10, 2025. Players who have purchased the Deluxe Edition will gain access earlier on June 5, 2025. The studio made the announcement through a post on the game’s official X page, alongside a heartfelt message to its community explaining the reason for the short delay.

According to the development team, the decision was driven by the extensive feedback received from beta testers, press members, and content creators who had early access to the game. “We concluded that with a bit more time to cook, we can act on a lot more of the feedback we know is important to our beta testers,” the developers explained, emphasizing the importance of quality and polish in what they describe as a “beast of a game.”

Dune: Awakening has garnered considerable attention for its ambitious design, which blends the survival and MMO genres against the backdrop of the harsh deserts of Arrakis. The game promises to deliver massive-scale multiplayer survival gameplay, with systems and technical depth not typically seen in the genre. Funcom acknowledged the immense scale and complexity of the title, affirming their goal to "stick the landing" when the game arrives.

In support of the updated timeline, the studio has also scheduled a livestream presentation focused on the combat systems in Dune: Awakening, giving players more insight into the gameplay mechanics. Additionally, Funcom confirmed plans for a large-scale beta weekend next month, with further details to be announced soon. This upcoming event could provide a broader audience with a chance to explore the game firsthand and contribute further feedback.

The full gameplay impressions from early beta testers, press, and creators will be shared on April 25, 2025, offering a comprehensive look at the current state of the game and what players can expect from the final release.
