Forza Horizon 5 Comes to PlayStation 5 in Spring 2025
Microsoft’s long-running exclusive Forza Horizon franchise is set to expand beyond Xbox and PC for the first time ever, with Forza Horizon 5 arriving on PlayStation 5 in Spring 2025, according to an announcement on the official Forza website. In collaboration with Panic Button, Turn 10 Studios, and Playground Games, the PlayStation 5 version will introduce the open-world racing phenomenon to a new audience—complete with nearly 900 cars, two expansions, and over 40 thematic updates released since the game’s original launch.
All Current Content Included
Players on PlayStation 5 will receive the full content suite the title has accrued on Xbox and PC, including the Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure expansions (available for purchase). The game remains centered in Mexico, letting newcomers experience the acclaimed Horizon Festival and the scenic variety it offers—from desert highways to lush rainforests.
Cross-Play and New Horizon Realms
In addition to confirming cross-play support across all platforms (Xbox consoles, PC, and PlayStation 5), the developers also announced a Horizon Realms update. This free update will allow players to revisit “community-favorite previously released Evolving Worlds,” along with a few extra surprises to be detailed later. Horizon Realms will be provided as a free download on all systems, ensuring that every player, regardless of platform, enjoys an up-to-date experience.
Developers and Future Expansions
Though Forza Horizon 5 has been a Playground Games production from the start, Panic Button is heading up the PlayStation 5 port in partnership with Turn 10 and Playground to optimize the game for Sony’s current-gen console. This shift away from long-held exclusivity underscores Microsoft’s evolving strategy; fans are already speculating which other Xbox-exclusive titles may follow suit, from Halo to Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.
