Forza Horizon 5 Sets PS5 Launch Date; PS5 Pro Gets Enhanced Visuals, New Horizon Realms Update Announced

Playground Games has officially revealed that Forza Horizon 5 will launch on PlayStation 5 on April 29, 2025, with Premium Edition owners gaining early access on April 25. Alongside the release, the studio announced exciting technical enhancements for the PS5 Pro version. On PS5, the game offers two rendering modes: Performance mode, running at 60fps, and Quality mode at 30fps. Notably, on the PS5 Pro, the Performance mode will feature increased visual fidelity, while the Quality mode will introduce ray-traced car reflections during races and free roam.

The PS5 launch coincides with a major update, Horizon Realms, set to roll out across all platforms. Horizon Realms will immerse players in the history of the game’s Evolving World updates, featuring twelve distinct locations including classic areas such as Stunt Park, Ice Rink, Oval Track, Summer Party, Neon Airstrip, Día de Muertos, Winter Wonderland, Lunar Drift Arena, Retrowave Highway, Cars and Coffee, and the new Stadium Maze—the first-ever Stadium Track. Players can collect exclusive Horizon Realms awards to unlock four new Horizon Reward Cars:
• 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto
• 2023 Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato
• 2018 Lotus Exige Cup 430
• 2022 Hennessey Mammoth 6x6

Playground Games outlined two gameplay modes for Horizon Realms. In Skill Mode, players choose a Realm to enter and accumulate Skill Scores, with individual and overall leaderboards tracking progress and unlocking unique player badges. In Free Mode, leaderboards are set aside to focus purely on the fun of exploration, allowing both solo and co-op play to earn badges and #Forzathon points.
