Game of Thrones Kingsroad Gameplay Preview Revealed, Closed Beta Launches January 16

When Game of Thrones Kingsroad was first unveiled at The Game Awards 2024, my skepticism ran deep. As a long-time fan of George R.R. Martin's intricate world of Westeros, I've dreamed of a proper, triple-A adaptation for years. A mobile-focused game seemed far from the immersive, high-budget experience fans have been waiting for.

However, it appears the development team at Netmarble has been hard at work addressing criticisms. The recently shared gameplay sneak peek offers a more promising glimpse into the game. Drawing clear inspiration from modern action-adventure titles like the Assassin's Creed franchise, the new footage showcases a noble-turned-heir protagonist navigating the treacherous political games of Westeros. Notably, Lady Olenna delivers a chilling warning about underestimating the power plays of the major Houses.

Closed Beta Test Details

Netmarble also announced a Closed Beta Test (CBT) for Game of Thrones Kingsroad, running from January 16 to January 22, in the following regions:

  • North America: United States, Canada

  • Europe: Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Turkey, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland, Norway, Austria, Belgium, Ukraine, Denmark, Ireland, Romania, Finland, Portugal, Greece, Hungary, Slovakia, Luxembourg, Croatia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania

Players interested in joining can sign up on the game’s official page for both Android and Windows PC. While the full game will also be available on iOS at launch, the CBT will only support the aforementioned platforms.

Here’s what you’ll need to run the game smoothly:

    • CPU: Intel Core i7-9700 or AMD Ryzen 5 5500

    • RAM: 8GB

    • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 1660 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT

    • OS: Windows 10

    • Hard Drive: 30GB

    • Device: Samsung Galaxy S20 or equivalent

    • RAM: 8GB

The gameplay preview confirms that Game of Thrones Kingsroad will feature a PC launcher, ensuring a more versatile experience for those who prefer larger screens and traditional controls.

Release Timeline

Netmarble has also confirmed a 2025 release window, though a fixed date has yet to be announced. Fans can expect the game to launch across Android, iOS, and PC platforms.

The question remains: can Game of Thrones Kingsroad capture the essence of Martin’s world and the political intrigue that defines it? Only time—and a closer look at the CBT—will tell.
