LG Unveils World’s First Bendable 5K2K OLED Gaming Monitor at CES 2025

[Press Release] LG Electronics is setting new standards in gaming monitor innovation with the debut of its UltraGear GX9 series at CES 2025. This groundbreaking lineup includes the 45GX990A, the world’s first bendable 5K2K OLED gaming monitor, and the 45GX950A, a 45-inch ultra-high-resolution OLED monitor with an 800R curvature. Both models have already garnered industry recognition, with the 45GX990A winning three CES 2025 Innovation Awards, including the coveted ‘Best of Innovation.’

The UltraGear GX9 series solidifies LG’s leadership in premium OLED gaming monitors. It combines cutting-edge display technology with innovative features to deliver an unrivaled gaming experience. The GX9 lineup uses WOLED panels, providing true blacks, vibrant colors, and optimized curvature to fully immerse players in their favorite games. Certified for low blue light emissions and equipped with Anti-Glare & Low Reflection (AGLR) coating, these monitors prioritize visual comfort and reduce eye strain during extended gaming sessions, even in bright environments.

The 45GX990A is a 45-inch, 5K2K-resolution (5,120 x 2,160) gaming monitor that stands out as the world’s first bendable OLED display. It can seamlessly transform from a flat screen to a 900R curvature, offering gamers unparalleled flexibility. This dynamic adjustability allows users to fine-tune their immersion depending on the game genre, such as FPS, RPG, or racing simulators. The monitor features Dual-Mode, enabling users to switch between 21:9 and 16:9 aspect ratios and adjust picture sizes to 39-, 34-, or 27-inches with one-touch control. Equipped with a 0.03ms (GtG) response time, the 45GX990A ensures ultra-smooth gameplay.

The 45GX950A, another standout model, features a fixed 800R curvature for a panoramic viewing experience. Its 21:9 aspect ratio and 125 pixels-per-inch (PPI) density provide sharp visuals and enhanced text clarity, making it ideal for both gaming and productivity tasks like editing documents or creating content. Its RGWB subpixel layout enhances color accuracy, while its 4-side Virtually Borderless design creates an elegant aesthetic for any setup. The 45GX950A is compatible with DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C, supporting 90W power delivery for convenient device charging. Certified by NVIDIA G-SYNC® and AMD FreeSync™ Premium Pro, it ensures smoother gameplay with reduced screen tearing.

Completing the lineup is the 39GX90SA, a smart OLED gaming monitor powered by webOS. Its 39-inch 800R curved display delivers HDR visuals, vibrant colors, and deep blacks. Designed for versatility, it functions as a standalone entertainment hub, providing access to streaming services without requiring a PC or set-top box. With USB Type-C connectivity and an ergonomic L-shaped stand, the 39GX90SA offers a sleek, space-saving design for clutter-free setups.

YS Lee, vice president and head of the IT Business Unit at LG, emphasized the company’s vision for advancing gaming technology: “The UltraGear GX9 series sets a new standard for OLED gaming monitors, combining groundbreaking display technology with smart features that expand and enhance the user experience. From the world’s first 5K2K OLED gaming monitors with second-generation Dual-Mode to smart gaming monitors with built-in webOS, the GX9 lineup pushes the boundaries to deliver maximum value and enjoyment for our customers.”
