MercurySteam’s New Dark Fantasy ARPG Blades of Fire to Be Unveiled This Thursday
Spanish developer MercurySteam has officially confirmed the title of its upcoming single-player dark fantasy action RPG, Blades of Fire. The studio announced that the game will be unveiled this Thursday at 10:30 AM Pacific Time (18:30 GMT) during IGN Fan Fest 2025.
With over 20 years in the industry, MercurySteam has a rich history of delivering memorable titles such as the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow trilogy for Konami and two critically acclaimed Metroid games for Nintendo. Although their self-published game Raiders of the Broken Planet (later relaunched as Spacelords) did not meet expectations, the studio is now partnering with publisher 505 Games to bring Blades of Fire to market.
There is limited public information on Blades of Fire at this stage. However, in a 2023 interview with Gamereactor, Game Director Enric Álvarez offered some insights into the project. He promised that the game would “surprise” and “shock” players, featuring the hallmark strengths of MercurySteam—strong graphics, compelling storytelling, and dynamic action. Álvarez also emphasized that Blades of Fire would be powered by the studio’s proprietary Mercury Engine, which has been a cornerstone of their development capabilities since their inception.
As MercurySteam prepares to unveil Blades of Fire, fans and industry watchers alike are eager to see how the studio’s in-house technology and creative vision will translate into this new dark fantasy adventure. Stay tuned for the live reveal this Thursday to discover more about what promises to be a full-blown MercurySteam experience.
