Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 1 to Enhance PC Stability with Reduced VRAM Usage; Layered Weapons & Apex Predators Coming Soon

Capcom has released a new developer update for Monster Hunter Wilds, detailing the imminent Title Update 1 that introduces a host of performance and content enhancements, particularly focused on improving the PC experience. In a message shared by Director Yuya Tokuda on the official website MonsterHunter.com, players received an in-depth look at what’s coming later this week and a sneak peek at additional content arriving in late May.

For PC users, the headline news is a significant reduction in VRAM usage, which aims to boost game stability, especially for players running the game on machines with limited video memory. The update also includes an upgrade to the latest version of DirectStorage, the modern file streaming technology designed to speed up load times and streamline asset handling. According to Tokuda, these improvements are part of an ongoing effort to tackle lingering stability issues on PC, with more refinements planned in the near future.

Tempered Monsters and Apex Threats Arrive in May

Looking ahead, Capcom is preparing to launch a formidable batch of endgame content in late May, including the debut of Tempered Monsters (★8)—led by Gore Magala, and joined by apex predators Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad. These high-tier monsters will come with increased health pools, tougher wound resistance, and other balance adjustments that will challenge even the most seasoned hunters.

In addition, balance updates to weapons and mantles are on the way, and players can expect several quality-of-life improvements designed to streamline gameplay. Tokuda also teased broader changes to the gameplay flow and confirmed that Layered Weapons—a much-requested feature allowing players to change the appearance of their weapons without altering stats—are on the development roadmap.

While the Artian weapons remain popular for their stats, Tokuda acknowledged community feedback regarding their uninspiring aesthetics, stating that Layered Weapon customization would help players “look as good as they play.”

A Growing and Evolving Experience

Monster Hunter Wilds continues to build on its already expansive world with these updates, cementing its position as one of the most engaging entries in the franchise. The PC-specific performance improvements in particular show Capcom’s commitment to a smoother and more stable experience for players on all platforms.

Monster Hunter Wilds is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
