PureDark Releases AMD FSR 3 Mod for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

Renowned modder PureDark has once again stepped up for the gaming community, this time with an AMD FSR 3 mod for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The mod, available to subscribers of his Patreon, introduces AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 support, including the highly sought-after frame generation feature. However, even PureDark himself cautioned potential subscribers:

"Note that the devs have announced that future updates will include official FSR3 implementation. Think twice before subscribing!"

Mod Details

Developer MachineGames has already confirmed that official FSR 3 support will arrive in a future patch, though it’s unclear if their version will include frame generation. PureDark’s mod, however, delivers this functionality now, offering a substantial boost to performance that has caught the attention of players.

Performance Gains on the Steam Deck

Interestingly, PureDark’s FSR 3 mod has proven functional on devices like Valve’s Steam Deck. YouTuber Grown Up Gaming tested it, reporting significant performance improvements:

  • Without the mod: 20-25 FPS

  • With FSR 3 (Quality Mode): ~40 FPS

  • With FSR 3 (Performance Mode): ~50 FPS (at the cost of visual fidelity)

While the Steam Deck isn’t optimized for ray tracing (a key requirement for the game), the mod provides a surprisingly playable experience on the portable device.

Is the Mod Worth It?

Despite its potential, PureDark’s mod may hold the most value for desktop players lacking an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series GPU. For them, the mod can double frame rates in demanding scenarios, significantly improving the gaming experience without requiring new hardware.

That said, players may prefer to wait for the official patch, especially given MachineGames’ ongoing updates and the mod’s Patreon paywall. Additionally, for Steam Deck users and others on the go, streaming the game via services like GeForce NOW remains a viable alternative, offering full ray tracing and stable performance.
