Rainbow Six Siege X Confirmed at Six Invitational, with New Tactical Features and Operator Rauora

Following earlier rumors, Ubisoft has officially confirmed the existence of Rainbow Six Siege X during the Six Invitational eSports tournament. The announcement comes with a promise of a full-fledged showcase on March 13 at 10 AM PT / 7 PM CET, streamed live via the Rainbow Six Siege Twitch channel and accessible in person in Atlanta, Georgia. According to Ubisoft, Rainbow Six Siege X will introduce significant graphics and sound upgrades, deeper tactical gameplay, and innovative new ways to play the game. A brief video teaser is available for fans to preview the upcoming experience.

While the live service for the standard Rainbow Six Siege continues, Year 10 kicks off with its first season, Operation Prep Phase, which introduces a new Operator, Rauora, from New Zealand. Initially available through the new Battle Pass, Rauora will later be unlockable with Renown or R6 Credits. She wields a powerful arsenal, including a choice between the 417 designated sniper rifle or the M249 light machine gun for primary fire, and options like the GSH-18 9mm pistol or the new Reaper MK2 submachine gun for secondary fire. Notably, Rauora's kit features the innovative Deployable Omnilink Mesh (D.O.M.) Launcher—a gadget that acts as a bulletproof smart cover system specifically designed for doorways. When aimed at a doorway, an on-screen icon indicates a valid target for launching the gadget; once fired, the projectile attaches to the door and deploys a bulletproof panel that extends to the floor. This panel not only blocks enemy lines of sight and movement but also interacts dynamically with both attackers and defenders, with timing advantages that can favor the attacking team. A detailed demonstration of this smart cover system is provided in this gameplay video

Ubisoft has also noted that the plates deployed by the D.O.M. Launcher are bulletproof, though not impervious to blasts or extreme external forces such as those from Tubarão's Zoto Canister, and even Jäger's ADS can neutralize them. Operation Prep Phase will be available for trial next week, while Rainbow Six Siege X itself is expected to launch alongside the second season of Year 10, though an exact release date has yet to be confirmed.

What do you think of the new tactical features in Rainbow Six Siege X, especially the innovative D.O.M. Launcher and the addition of Operator Rauora? Are you excited for the upcoming showcase on March 13? Share your thoughts below!
