Gameplay Details

South of Midnight has an estimated playtime of 10–12 hours, mixing Southern Gothic aesthetics with supernatural action. Game Director Jasmin Roy highlighted three of the title’s most integral spells—Push, Pull, and Weave—which allow for strategic advantages during combat. Players can yank distant foes close for melee combos, shove them away to interrupt attacks, and chain these moves together for devastating follow-ups. Timing and spell synergy will be key to mastering these encounters.

With Microsoft continuing its push for first-party titles and Compulsion Games stepping into the limelight, South of Midnight is shaping up to be a distinctive new action-adventure journey. Fans of immersive storytelling and atmospheric settings will finally get their hands on this magical Southern-inspired world on April 8.
