Split Fiction Announced at The Game Awards, Launching March 6, 2025

At The Game Awards 2024, Hazelight Studios and Electronic Arts revealed Split Fiction, the next ambitious co-op title from the team behind It Takes Two. The game is set to release on March 6, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and EA App.

This new title builds on Hazelight’s mastery of cooperative gameplay, blending sci-fi and fantasy elements with unique and wild mechanics, offering what Josef Fares describes as their “most epic co-op adventure yet.”

What’s Split Fiction About?

In Split Fiction, players assume the roles of Mio and Zoe, two individuals from different worlds who must team up to reclaim their creative legacies. Along the way, they navigate between imaginative sci-fi and fantasy realms, forming an unexpected friendship filled with joy, challenges, and laughter.

Features:

  • Genre-Bending Worlds: Seamlessly jump between sci-fi and fantasy settings, each offering distinct gameplay experiences.

  • Creative Mechanics: Participate in hilarious and unique activities, like challenging a monkey to a dance battle, bouncing as a pig on a trampoline, or performing hoverboard tricks.

  • Heartwarming Storytelling: Experience a narrative-driven journey exploring themes of friendship, creativity, and self-discovery.

  • Epic Co-op Gameplay: Continuing Hazelight’s tradition, the game features innovative co-op gameplay designed to delight players of all ages.

What Josef Fares Had to Say

Josef Fares, Founder of Hazelight Studios, shared his excitement about the project:

“At Hazelight, we've been building co-op games for 10 years, and with every game we push beyond what players expect. Split Fiction will blow your mind. With Mio and Zoe jumping between sci-fi and fantasy worlds, we've done some truly wild things with gameplay and storytelling.”

EA Partners’ Jeff Gamon added:

“No one does co-op better than Hazelight. We're thrilled to bring another innovative, collaborative adventure to life that redefines what players can experience together.”

Split Fiction will launch on March 6, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and EA App. It will retail for $49.99.
