The First Berserker: Khazan Gets New Gameplay Featuring Intense Boss Fight and More
New gameplay footage for The First Berserker: Khazan was revealed today, offering a fresh glimpse into the action role-playing game being developed by Neople.
This latest footage was showcased at G-Star 2024, currently taking place in Busan, South Korea, until November 17th. It features an intense battle against the boss Volbaino and highlights gameplay set in Mount Heinmach, one of the initial locations that Khazan explores after his liberation from imprisonment.
Having experienced the game firsthand at this year's Gamescom, The First Berserker: Khazan has quickly risen to the top of my most anticipated games for 2025. My positive impressions were further solidified during last month’s Technical Closed Beta Test.
The extended playtime offered in the Technical Closed Beta allowed me to delve deeper into the combat mechanics. Although the stamina-based combat system draws clear inspiration from the Souls series, the influences of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Nioh are even more pronounced. For instance, the evade maneuver lacks significant invincibility frames, making it somewhat perilous in close quarters. Conversely, the Brink Guard, a parry technique, proves to be a more effective defensive option. It is user-friendly and allows Khazan to maintain the offensive, as there is a brief cancel window after each move that facilitates a quick transition to the guarding stance, restoring stamina while depleting that of the enemy. Additionally, there is an instant evade technique known as Brink Evade, but it may disrupt the combat flow when used to dodge attacks that could alternatively be parried.

The First Berserker: Khazan is set to launch sometime in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
