The Legend of Zelda Live-Action Movie Officially Set for March 26, 2027 Release

Nintendo has officially confirmed today that the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is set to premiere in theaters on March 26, 2027. The announcement came via the newly launched "Nintendo Today" app, a mobile platform recently unveiled in yesterday's Nintendo Direct, emphasizing the app's strategic role in delivering major updates and announcements directly to fans.

The Nintendo app acts as a daily calendar, featuring the latest news, exclusive videos, and comics from various iconic Nintendo franchises. The app is now available for download on both iOS and Android devices.

This live-action project was first announced on November 8, 2023, by legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, who confirmed his personal involvement alongside renowned producer Avi Arad-san. Arad has an extensive filmography, including several blockbuster hits, bringing considerable expertise to the ambitious project. At the time, Miyamoto shared, "I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now... It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it."

Leading the creative vision behind the camera is director Wes Ball, known for his work on the acclaimed Maze Runner trilogy and the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The script is being penned by Derek Connolly, whose notable credits include the Jurassic World trilogy, Kong: Skull Island, Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, and Star Wars: Episode IX—The Rise of Skywalker.

The next significant milestone for this production is the casting process, particularly the highly anticipated announcements for who will portray beloved protagonists Link and Princess Zelda. The speculation around these casting choices has already sparked extensive conversations among fans.
