The Relic: First Guardian – A Soulslike Action RPG Set for 2025

A new gameplay trailer for The Relic: First Guardian has just dropped, offering a tantalizing glimpse into this upcoming Soulslike action RPG. Developed by South Korean studio Project Cloud Games and published by Perp Games, the title is scheduled to launch later this year on PC via Steam, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X.

Originally announced as Project Relic at Gamescom 2021 and unveiled as a multiplayer experience, the game has since evolved into a single-player narrative. Players will step into the shoes of the last Guardian, tasked with saving a once-thriving realm, Arsiltus, now devoured by the void created from the destruction of the great relic. The hero’s journey will involve gathering the fragmented pieces of the shattered relic to ultimately seal the encroaching darkness.

Set in an apocalyptic fantasy world, The Relic: First Guardian offers a semi-open world where dynamic exploration meets relentless combat. Gamers can choose from five distinct weapon types, each boasting unique abilities that can be tailored to match diverse play styles. Notably, the game eschews traditional roleplaying leveling systems in favor of a progression model centered on runes, items, and crafting. These valuable resources are earned by conquering challenging dungeons and defeating formidable bosses, reinforcing a gameplay loop that rewards skill and strategic planning.

What are your thoughts on The Relic: First Guardian’s fresh take on character progression and its dark, immersive world? Will the absence of a traditional leveling system enhance your gaming experience? Share your insights below and join the conversation!
