Throne and Liberty Introduces Spear Weapon and PvP War Games on December 5
Big news for Throne and Liberty players! NCSoft and Amazon Games have announced the addition of a new weapon type, the spear, arriving December 5. This fire-attribute close-range weapon promises to shake up the MMORPG’s combat with its unique mechanics and versatility. Additionally, the PvP War Games feature will debut the same day, providing players with custom battle options for practice or fun.
The Spear: A Hybrid Melee Weapon
In a recently released developer video, the spear was detailed as a hybrid weapon with both Tank and DPS potential. Designed for Bruiser/Fighter playstyles, it offers a mix of defensive mobility, combo-based attacks, and utility skills that can turn the tide of battle.
Key features of the spear include:
Long Reach: Gains combat advantage with its extended range and throwing mechanics.
Hybrid Functionality: Excels in both Tank and DPS roles, useful for dealing with multiple enemies.
Dynamic Skills: Enables distance control, area-of-effect attacks, and battlefield initiation.
Fire Attribute: Adds an elemental edge to its versatile arsenal.
The spear was crafted with concepts of warriors and berserkers, giving it a strategic role in the game's meta. Expect this new weapon to bring balance against ranged classes that currently dominate the battlefield.
New PvP War Games Feature
Launching alongside the spear is War Games, a custom PvP mode designed for Conquest battles, Rift Stones, and Boon Stones. With War Games, players can:
Create Custom Lobbies: Configure matches by choosing the type of battle, team size, and number of participants.
Private and Public Matches: Perfect for competitive guilds to practice or casual groups looking for skirmishes.
While War Games won't include rewards at launch, Amazon Games and NCSoft plan to gather player feedback to expand its potential in future updates.
This update follows the addition of four challenging 2-Star dungeons: Carmine Rage Island, Voidwastes, Island of Terror, and Valley of Slaughter. These dungeons enhance Throne and Liberty’s PvE endgame, complementing its growing PvP options.
