Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Obelisk Update Brings DLSS 3, FSR 3, PS5 Pro Enhancements, and More
Saber Interactive has delivered the highly anticipated Obelisk Update (v5.0) for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2. This major patch introduces a host of technical and gameplay enhancements, alongside new content that expands the Warhammer universe. Here’s everything you need to know:
The update’s centerpiece is the Obelisk Operation, a cooperative PvE mission where players are sent to Demerium during the final campaign events. Your mission: rotate the obelisk replica to disrupt the energy flow protecting the Aurora device. To reach the objective, Space Marines must traverse a dark tomb filled with danger.
Meet the Tzaangor Enlightened
A new enemy has joined the Thousand Sons in Operations: the Tzaangor Enlightened. This flying hybrid unit offers a mix of melee and ranged attacks. Here’s a tip from Game Director Dmitriy Grigorenko:
“They’re tough in numbers but vulnerable during long animations or after a parry. Use Target Lock to gain an edge.”
Technical Updates
The Obelisk Update brings cutting-edge technology to boost performance and visuals:
NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation (DLSS 3) and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR 3) for better performance on PC.
PlayStation 5 Pro Enhancements:
Performance Mode: 60 FPS at 4K (upscaled by PS Spectral Super Resolution).
Quality Mode: 30 FPS at 4K with enhanced visuals.
Improved texture streaming, increased stability, reduced crashes, and optimized the Anti-Cheat system.
Gameplay Changes
Melee Combat Improvements:
Normal melee damage has been increased.
Blocking Weapons now build up to three stacks of melee damage buffs, which can be unleashed in a devastating AoE attack.
Firearm Changes on the Horizon: While no immediate updates to Firearms Perks are included, Patch 7 will address a rework, and Patch 6 will overhaul underwhelming Class Perks.
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 has already surpassed five million units sold across platforms. With a 20% discount and a highly engaged community (94% positive recent reviews on Steam), these numbers are poised to rise.
