WolfEye’s Next Game: A "Dishonored-Style" RPG-Shooter Hybrid Set in a Steampunk World

Fans of Dishonored and Prey, rejoice! WolfEye Studios, led by Arkane founder Raphaël Colantonio, is working on a new game that promises to blend the immersive worlds of Dishonored with RPG depth and shooter gameplay. This ambitious project might be the closest thing to a Dishonored 3 for now, with Arkane’s beloved IP lying dormant.

In a recent interview with GamesIndustry, Colantonio teased what players can expect:

"People who loved Dishonored and Prey are going to feel very at home. It's uncompromised… We're going full-on into that kind of game in the way we create worlds and let choices flow to the player. This time, the RPG layer adds even more ways to play."

The new game will retain a first-person perspective, like Dishonored, and will feature real-time decision-making combined with RPG mechanics. Colantonio emphasized that the intersection of RPG elements and first-person shooter gameplay will create a uniquely immersive experience.

What We Know So Far

  • Setting: A steampunk world.

  • Gameplay: A mix of first-person immersive sim, RPG decision-making, and shooter mechanics.

  • Scope: More ambitious than Weird West, WolfEye's debut, thanks to early investments.

  • Alpha Test: A limited alpha is slated for next year, with sign-ups already open on the official website.

While Dishonored 3 remains uncertain, Colantonio’s description of this project is an exciting prospect for fans of Arkane-style immersive sims. With Arkane Lyon busy on Marvel’s Blade and Dishonored left in limbo since Death of the Outsider, WolfEye's upcoming game might just scratch that immersive-sim itch.

What do you think about the fusion of Dishonored-style worlds, RPG mechanics, and shooter gameplay? Could this be the spiritual successor fans have been waiting for? Let us know in the comments!
