Hades 2 Confirmed as Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 Console Exclusive at Launch

Supergiant Games has officially confirmed that Hades 2, one of 2025's most highly anticipated titles, will be launching exclusively on Nintendo consoles at launch—specifically the Nintendo Switch and the newly announced Nintendo Switch 2. This announcement, made during a recent Creator’s Voice segment published by Nintendo, reaffirms the developer’s strong ties with Nintendo following the similar rollout of the original Hades.

This means that while Hades 2 is already available in early access on PC—since May 6, 2024—Xbox and PlayStation players will once again have to wait for the game’s full release on their platforms, just as they did with the original entry. While a definitive launch date for version 1.0 is still unconfirmed, this platform exclusivity at launch echoes Supergiant’s previous staggered rollout strategy.

Nintendo Switch 2 Presence Confirmed, but Not a Launch Title

During the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Hades 2 was one of many prominent third-party titles confirmed for the next-generation console. However, the game was not among the console’s day-one launch titles, suggesting that while it is coming soon, it may follow shortly after the console's June 5, 2025 release. Until then, PC users can continue enjoying the evolving early access build.

Supergiant Games is widely respected in the indie development community, having built a stellar reputation with one-and-done titles like Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre. Hades 2 marks a departure for the studio as its first-ever sequel, yet it has already been praised for expanding on the mechanics and mythology that made the original a critical darling.

What's Next?

As Hades 2 approaches the one-year anniversary of its early access debut, fans are hopeful that a 1.0 launch announcement is just around the corner. With increasing polish, new content, and an enthusiastic community behind it, Hades 2 is shaping up to be a strong contender for Game of the Year 2025 once it reaches its full potential.

Are you planning to play Hades 2 on Switch 2 or PC? Which new features are you most excited for in this long-awaited sequel? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
